How do I send results to GeneSpring under Win95/98/Me ?

The Windows 95, 98 and Me operating systems have severe limitations in data exchange capabilities, more precisely the stdin and stdout channels, that prevent GeneSpring and ArrayMiner to exchange data in the seamless way used under Windows NT4 and higher. This means that while ArrayMiner is easily run from within GeneSpring (see the relevant page), the clustering found by ArrayMiner cannot be automatically sent back to GeneSpring upon exit from ArrayMiner.
In practice, this means that before exiting ArrayMiner, you must save your ArrayMiner clusters as a GeneSpring classification (gsc file type), using the Save button in the tool bar, or the Save Results option in the File menu.

Once the clustering has been saved as a gsc file, you can retrieve it in GeneSpring by selecting the "Load Classification From ArrayMiner (gsc)" option in GeneSpring's Navigator. In the following figure, this is the fifth option in the "External Programs / ArrayMiner" section of the Navigator.

The above limitations do not exist when running under Windows NT4 or higher, or under Mac OSX, i.e., under those operating systems the ArrayMiner clustering is retrieved automatically as a GeneSpring classification upon exit from ArrayMiner.
