ClassMarker
is a class marking and prediction tool. It detects significant differences
between gene expressions measured in samples coming from different cell
classes, such as healthy vs. diseased cells, different disease cells
(e.g. various types of cancer), cells from different tissues, etc. Detecting
the differences identifies marker genes, that are expressed differentially
between the classes, suggesting which genes’ activity is affected
by or causing the class membership. ClassMarker thus helps in identifying
cellular phenomena pertaining to a given class (e.g. a specific cancer),
and may suggest potential targets for treatment.
The expression levels of the marker genes can
also be used as “signatures” of the classes, to predict
the class of unclassified samples. ClassMarker can thus help establish
or ascertain a diagnosis, on the basis of the measured cellular phenomena.
ClassMarker is available as an optional functionality
of ArrayMiner.
